FGCS DEMOGRAPHICS

First-generation college students (FGCS) are students whose parents did NOT finish a bachelor’s degree.

FGCS are less likely to seek help from counseling centers.

FGCS are also educational pioneers with powerful narratives and incomparable assets.

Non-first-generation college students (Non-FGCS) are students whose parents completed a bachelor's degree.

In the fall of 2020, approximately 19.7 million students
attended a 4-year institution in the United States.
